Guro Edward Talisayan

... started his escrima training in 1993 with Grandmaster Leo Giron's original Bahala Na Club #1. It was not until Edward was attacked by multiple foes in highschool that it triggered him in his motive in learning to defend himself.

Edward lived across the street of GrandMaster Leo Giron, growing up watching Bahalana students run around the block. Edward was interviewed, accepted as a student and recognized as a former paperboy by GrandMaster L. Giron. During Edward`s time in training he also spent some time watering and mowing GrandMaster L. Girons lawn to keep up class payment when times were rough.

Edward graduated from Grandmaster Giron in 1995. Soon after in 1999, Edward achieved his instructorship under Grandmaster Giron. Edward is a full contact tournament fighter and a member of the original Bahala Na fight team under Maestro Dexter Labanog. He is known for his quick, clever and surprising techniques when it comes to competing. Edward believes the saying of GrandMaster Giron "It's better to sweat in training then to bleed in war".

Edward like the rest of his comrades would say," Always train for the Truth".

Edward was certified as an instructor of the Original Giron Escrima system by Maestro Labanog and Guro Mike Giron in October of 2007. He is currently one of the lead instructors for the Bahala Na Multi-Style school in Stockton,California.Edward also believes that in order for a system of escrima to evolve, the system's root and foundation should not be forgotten.

Edward's goal is to continue to train, teach, live the arts of our ancestors.
